About QT Shrimp
QT Shrimp is a Texas-based freshwater shrimp business focused on rare Caridina and distinctive Orange Eye genetics. My goal is to offer healthy shrimp with honest grading, clear care information, and realistic expectations about natural differences between individual animals.
My Focus
Orange Eye genetics and small-dot patterns are the core of my breeding program. I work with carefully selected lines including Orange Eye Blue Bolts, Orange Eye Pintos, Snowfalls, Stardust, and other specialty Caridina. My goal is to strengthen the Orange Eye trait and develop increasingly small, dense, and evenly distributed dot patterns while maintaining strong color, balanced coverage, and overall health.
Honest Grading
Every shrimp is naturally different. Mid Grade shrimp are offspring of High Grade breeding stock but do not fully express the desired traits or overall appearance selected for their line. High Grade shrimp are selected for stronger color, pattern, contrast, coverage, and expression of the line’s defining traits. Customers should contact me before purchasing a High Grade shrimp so I can confirm that the currently available specimen meets their expectations.
Real Shrimp and Real Photos
Every shrimp photo on my website is taken by me and shows my actual shrimp or a representative shrimp from the same line and quality range. I do not use stock photos, and I do not heavily edit images or artificially increase saturation to make the shrimp appear more colorful than they are in person.
Customers should expect natural variation in color, size, pattern, and coverage. Lighting and screen settings may also affect how colors appear.
How I Keep My Caridina
My Caridina are maintained in soft, acidic water prepared with RO water and a liquid GH+ remineralizer. I use active soil and prioritize mature, stable aquariums rather than constantly adjusting water to chase exact numbers.
